Chicago White Sox vs Kansas City Royals Live Online

White Sox Opening Day 2019: Start time, live stream vs. Royals.

The White Sox look to begin their march toward a brighter future with an Opening Day matchup against the Royals on Thursday. There will be a lot of reasons tune in, none larger than the debut of elite prospect Eloy Jimenez, who is starting in left field and batting fifth for his first big league game.

Jimenez’s debut serves as the exclamation point for the season opener after he agreed to a long-term deal that negated the incentives of leaving him in the minors to start the year. The 22-year-old has mashed everywhere he’s been and looks primed to hit dingers all over Guaranteed Rate Field for years to come.

However, that won’t happen Thursday because the Sox are on the road at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. The home opener will be next Thursday when the Mariners come to Chicago.

Both of the starting pitchers taking the mound Thursday are making their Opening Day debuts.

Carlos Rodon, who’s looking to finally put it all together after four up-and-down seasons, will start for the Sox. The 26-year-old recorded a 4.18 ERA with 90 strikeouts and 55 walks in 120.2 innings over 20 starts last year.

Brad Keller, an eighth-round pick in the 2013 MLB Draft, quickly ascended the Royals’ depth chart over the last year to become their Opening Day starter. He transitioned to the starting rotation in May 2018 and hasn’t looked back. In 20 starts last year, he posted a 3.28 ERA with 83 strikeouts and 43 walks in 118 innings.

Cleveland Indians vs Minnesota Twins Live Stream Online

Indians vs. Twins: MLB Opening Day prediction, pick, odds, line, TV channel, watch online, live stream.

Although the 2019 MLB regular season technically got underway with a recent pair of games in Tokyo, Japan, the rest of the league will enjoy Opening Day on Thursday, March 28.

That includes AL Central rivals Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins.

Here’s everything you need to know about this week’s first divisional showdown:

Indians: They’ve coasted to three straight AL Central titles, including 2018’s 13-game advantage over the Twins, but they also coasted through an offseason that saw them lose big-name free agents like Cody Allen and Michael Brantley. Two of their best hitters in a lineup not particularly full of them — Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez — are also banged up. Still, they’ve got Corey Kluber fronting a star-studded rotation, and in the Central, that might be enough to get them another crown.

Twins: It’s a time of new beginnings all around, as the Twins enter the season without Joe Mauer for the first time in 15 years. Under new manager Rocco Baldelli, Minnesota should have more pop with C.J. Cron and Nelson Cruz in the fold, and that offensive boost alone should help them improve within the division. But it remains to be seen whether they’re committed to spending for upgrades in-season — or how they’ll fare outside the Central. They’re borderline playoff material.

Prediction
Twins fans should be excited for the new-look lineup to open the year at home, and Cleveland isn’t nearly as scary as it looked in 2018. But Kluber is still Kluber, which means he’ll be too much for Minny to handle. Carlos Santana launches one into the seats, and the Indians take Game One.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs Cincinnati Reds Live Free

A four-run seventh inning, highlighted by a three-run home run from Derek Dietrich in his first career Reds at-bat helped lift the Cincinnati Reds over the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-3, on Opening Day Thursday at Great American Ball Park.

There were 44,049 fans in attendance, the most ever for a regular-season game in GABP history.

9th inning, Reds lead 5-3: Corey Dickerson hit a solo home run in the eight to get a run back for the Pirates, but Reds closer Raisel Iglesias is on to try and close this one out for the Reds.

7th inning, Reds lead 5-2: Second baseman José Peraza hit the first Reds home run of the season, a solo shot to left-center field to this game, 2-2, in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Tucker Barnhart followed Peraza with a walk and shortstop Jose Iglesias ripped a double down the third-base line to give the Reds runners at second and third with no outs.

The Pirates pulled starter Jameson Taillon after Iglesias’ hit and brought in Richard Rodriguez.

The pitching move didn’t help, though. Pinch hitter Derek Dietrich, making his first career Reds at-bat, smacked a three-run home run to give the Reds a 5-2 lead in a four-run seventh.

6th inning, 2-1 Pirates: Luis Castillo exited after allowing a two-out single to Josh Bell on his 91st pitch of the afternoon. Reliever Jared Hughes followed Castillo and lost the lead, surrendering back-to-back singles and a four-pitch walk. Both runs scored on a single from Jung Ho Kang.

Castillo gave up two hits and three walks while striking out eight.

Live coverage: Reds vs. Pirates on Opening Day

5th inning, 1-0 Reds: It was a 1-2-3 inning for both sides. The Reds have one hit since José Iglesias’ RBI double in the second inning.

4th inning, 1-0 Reds: Castillo struck out the side, sandwiched around a two-out walk he issued to Kang. He has six strikeouts and three walks.

3rd inning, 1-0 Reds: The Pirates had two runners on base through a single and a walk, but Luis Castillo stranded them with a pair of flyouts. He’s thrown 38 pitches through three scoreless innings.

2nd inning, 1-0 Reds: The Reds took their first lead of the 2019 season when shortstop José Iglesias hit an RBI double off the left-field wall to score José Peraza.

Castillo pitched a 1-2-3 top of the second inning, which included one swinging strikeout.

1st inning: Not including a two-out walk issued to Corey Dickerson, it was a smooth start for Reds starter Castillo. He induced a groundout to first base on the first pitch of the season at 4:11 p.m., then struck out two batters with his devastating change-up.

Joey Votto produced the first hit of the Reds’ season, smacking a double into the right-center gap. He was stranded at second when Yasiel Puig struck out in his first at-bat with his new team and Eugenio Suárez hit a pop-up to the shortstop.

Pre-game: After a busy early afternoon at Great American Ball Park, the Reds completed their introductions, tributes to Frank Robinson, Chuck Harmon and others who died in the offseason and were a part of the organization, and the national anthem.

Puig received loud cheers with his name shouted by the sold-out crowd, “Puiiigg!” Votto probably had the loudest ovation, entering his 13th Major League season.

8 bold Yankees predictions before Opening Day: Will AL East and/or World Series droughts end? Greg Bird over Luke Voit? Troy Tulowitzki a short-timer?

The New York Yankees’ regular season begins on Thursday when they host the Baltimore Orioles.

Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner thinks New York has a championship-caliber team as it heads into Thursday’s opener against Baltimore.

“We’re excited,” Steinbrenner said Tuesday after watching CC Sabathia pitch in a minor league game. “We’re as good as anybody. The team is going to do everything they can to win this thing. I believe they’re going to play up to their potential.”

Steinbrenner thinks the Yankees have enough depth to overcome injuries to Sabathia, Luis Severino, Dellin Betances, Didi Gregorius, Aaron Hicks, and Jordan Montgomery.

“I’d like to be more healthy, but the good news is none of the injuries are significant and the guys are going to be back,” Steinbrenner said.

New York went 100-62 last season for its best record since 2009, yet finished eight games back of the AL East champion Boston Red Sox, who won the World Series for the fourth time in 15 seasons.

Last year’s Yankees, led by Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton set a major league record with 267 homers, three more than the 1997 Seattle Mariners.

The Yankees focused on pitching during the offseason, adding Adam Ottavino and James Paxton, and re-signing Sabathia, Zack Britton, and J.A. Happ.

Youngsters Domingo German and Jonathan Loaisiga will fill two spots in the rotation in the opening weeks.

“Our pitching from top to bottom is still very good,” Steinbrenner said of Yankees’ minor league system. “Charleston may have the best rotation of all. We’re strong.”
